Luca Guadagnino’s WE ARE WHO WE ARE is a celebration of self. Through a series of digital activations and social media touchpoints we worked to connect our audience through the ethos and discovery of contemporary youth culture.

Ahead of the premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s WE ARE WHO WE ARE we distributed kits to an extensive list of icons and personalities who have contributed to youth culture through their work and online presence. Inside the kit were two products that invited the recipient to internalize the themes within the series; a limited edition Eckhaus Latta tee and BIG DATA (TM) USB drive.

Working with designer and iconoclast, Caleb Flowers, we adapted his BIGDATA(TM) download concept into a physical USB. A zine-like curation filled with gigabytes of original imagery, video, music and other digital ephemera from the series’ talent and a selection of contemporary creators all responding to the questions ‘Who Are You?’ The USB was sent out in seeding  and given away to the public for free through a microsite.

We tapped NYC fashion house Eckhaus Latta to design a limited edition run of their iconic Lapped Tee emblazoned with their own words around self-identity. The shirt was intended as a canvas for artists to create representations of who they are. We then asked five artist to rework the shirt: Jan Gatewood, Nathalie Nguyen, Left Hand LA, Rian Phin, and Nicole McLaughlin.

In partnership with cult mainstay, NTS Radio, we programmed a five episode coming-of-age radio series. Each episode features a member of the show’s cast or crew, taking a deep dive into the themes of the show and parallels between their characters and their real life experiences. Episodes ranged from an interview with the music supervisor Robin Urdang, to Chloë Sevigny reading fan-submitted love stories.

ENCAPSULATING CONTEMPORARY YOUTH CULTURE FOR LUCA GUADAGNINO'S HBO SERIES

Donald Glover Presents is the creative partnership between the multi-talented artist and iconic sportswear brand adidas Originals, a collaboration yielding a range of new products and short films with storytelling at its core. To launch the exclusive collection, KAMP worked alongside Glover's Royalty Collective to give superfans first access and a physical space to explore DG's cinematic offerings. 

KAMP took over a mansion in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake and crafted a story-driven experience inspired by five short films directed by Glover himself, immersing guests in an intimate evening that incorporated product seeding and elements of theater.

150 guests were invited to the mansion to step into a recreation of Glover's cinematic world. Each room was a build-out of a set from one of the five films, enhanced with sound, smell, and other sensory design meant to extended and deepen the narrative.

Seeding presented a moment for storytelling as well. Guests received their own pair of the exclusive sneaker collab and were invited to lace up before entering the mansion. Each room featured a variety of materials inspired by the short films meant to add wear and tear to the shoes — red clay, paint splatter, a honey-like substance, moss, and dirt — actualizing Glover's vision of "symbolic initiation" and the philosophy that shoes should be worn.
